Jim and his wife, Patti were married in 1978. They have three kids: Jamie, who is married to Adam Crowe and lives in Fremont, Nebraska; Josiah, who lives with his wife Rachel in the Gretna area; and Sarah, who is a student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. They also have two Labradors, Boomer and Daisy. Jim enjoys being a member of the Gretna Volunteer Fire Department (30+ years of service). He also enjoys running and working out, reading and serving his community. At this point, one of his favorite books (besides the Bible) is Dallas Willard’s The Divine Conspiracy. Born and raised in Gretna, Jim became a Christian when he was about 25 years old. Not long after beginning his relationship with God, he felt a call to pursue full time ministry as a pastor. He graduated from Toccoa Falls College (GA) and in 1983. After graduation, Jim and Patti pastored a church in Princeton, NE. He also started a new church in Lincoln. Later, Jim went back into a family business and became involved in the local political scene. He served on the city council in Gretna for two years before serving as Gretna’s mayor for 12 years (1992-2004). Jim was also elected to the Sarpy County Board of Commissioners in 2010.
